About the Practice
Onewa Doctors is a long-established, community-focused general practice serving the people of Auckland’s North Shore for over 90 years. Located in Chelsea Business Park, 162 Mokoia Road, Chatswood, our modern medical centre provides high-quality, patient-centred healthcare in a professional and welcoming environment.
Conveniently situated just minutes from Auckland City via the Harbour Bridge, the practice is easily accessible to patients from Birkenhead, Chatswood, Northcote, Beach Haven, Birkdale, and the wider North Shore. We offer ample on-site parking and are located close to major bus routes, making it easy to reach us by both private and public transport.
Our practice has a rich history dating back to approximately 1930, when it was established by Dr Holgate. The practice moved from Northcote to Birkenhead in 1937 and continued to serve generations of local families under the leadership of Dr Davies, Dr Gary Johnstone, Dr Appanna, and Dr Naidoo. In 2014, Dr Elvie Nario-Anderson became the owner of Onewa Doctors and has continued the practice’s commitment to excellence in primary healthcare.
As the practice expanded and patient enrolment increased, a move to larger premises became necessary. In January 2017, Onewa Doctors relocated to Chelsea Business Park, allowing us to enhance our facilities, expand our services, and better meet the healthcare needs of our growing community.
Today, Onewa Doctors provides comprehensive general practice services, preventive healthcare, chronic disease management, minor procedures, immunisations, and acute medical care for individuals and families of all ages. We are proud members of Comprehensive Care PHO and remain dedicated to delivering accessible, high-quality healthcare tailored to the needs of our patients.
Our practice meets the Foundation Standards of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners and is accredited as a teaching practice for University of Auckland medical students, contributing to the education and development of future healthcare professionals.

Appointment Information
We will always endeavour to see patients without any appointments. If you wish to see a preferred doctor, we recommend you call in advance to book a consultation.
Home Visits:
Home visits are available for regular enrolled funded patients, whose condition prevents them from attending the surgery. Doctors in the practice may be contacted during normal surgery hours, who will return your call at their earliest opportunity. Your call will always be put straight through to the doctor in an emergency.
Alternatively, you can email the nurse or doctor. We try our very best to respond to your email within 24 to 48 hours. This service is only for non-urgent matters.
